Band Students and Parents,
We are starting to get into the groove of doing band online and it's been great to hear everyone play their instrument again. Since the last email, every student submitted their pretest that will set them on the right track for the year. The great thing about our new curriculum is that every student is being challenged to their exact individual level. Start asking to hear what they are working on in the "Matrix Packet."
Virtual Meet The Teacher Night
The school will be sending out links to videos of all your student's teachers. Since we have a few team taught classes in band, we wanted to share our videos with everyone so you can meet the whole team. For the most specific information and updates particularly about the band program, view my video. On your own, feel free to watch any or all of our videos to get to know us and all of the classes we teach!

Band Fees
If your student is renting a school owned band instrument, you can now pay the $50 fee. Likewise, if your student got a new flip folder and/or lyre at band camp, you can now pay the $13 fee. You should have received notification by now if this is you. Fees can be paid online thru the parent portal or by check made payable to Maine South High School. Checks can be sent via mail to the following address:
Attention: Bookstore
Maine South High School
1111 S. Dee Road
Park Ridge IL 60068
Questions can be addressed to myself or Mrs. Karyn Blong in the Fine Arts office at 847-692-8240.
***Note: Percussionists, you are normally charged a $50 percussion usage/maintenance fee. We have not placed that charge on your account yet because you aren't using the school instruments during this season of e-learning. That fee will be applied once we start school in-person again.
Private Lessons
Now that everyone has a better idea of their daily schedule, work load, and e-learning process it's time to sign up for private lessons. Please contact your private teacher directly to schedule a time for lessons. This is the #1 way to improve on your instrument.
